The beginnings of our line can be traced back to our bitch Solvik Sea Saga who was born in 1964.

"Sara" and her litter sister, Ch Solvik Bella Inge who was owned by Margaret Slater of Spotswold, are the foundation of Checkerboard.

After continuing the "Coachman" line on for many years, Checkerboard had their first outcross, bringing in "new blood" in the form of Eng Ch Clydevale Mastermind (imp U.K). "Magnus" who was the number 1 dalmatian in the UK in 1978 and who later became Eng. Aust. and NZ Champion, was the first English Champion ever to be imported into Australia and can be found in the pedigrees of many Australian Champions.
